A single incision laparoscopy involves placement of all working instruments through one small incision, mostly hidden in the belly button, through which the kidney is also extracted through. In this case, single incision laparoscopic surgery is used to remove an advanced kidney tumor that has invaded into the main kidney vein. This was the first procedure of its type performed.
